Prevention invites the public to join the country’s leading minds in the fast-changing worlds of health, fitness, food, beauty and mindfulness for a life-changing, stress-pausing weekend to discover inspiring ways to optimize their health. The event’s name, R3, promotes the Summit’s purpose: Refresh. Revive. Reinvent.

The Prevention R3 Summit will commence with a welcome reception on Friday, October 17th from 6:00 – 9:30 p.m. at the Long Center for Performing Arts, with an exclusive film screening of the documentary, Resistance. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion that includes Michael Graziano, the film’s director and producer and Tom Philpott, a leading voice in the sustainable food movement, among others.

From 7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 18th, attendees will enjoy a full day of health and wellness programming at the Long Center led by key Prevention contributors, national health and wellness experts, local chefs and many more. The day kicks off with a morning workout led by Sadie Lincoln, founder and owner of barre3 exercise studios, which will be opening a third location in Austin this month at Circle C Ranch.

Actress and international spokesperson, Andie MacDowell, will open the event’s main stage programming with an intimate on-stage conversation with Prevention Editorial Director, Anne Alexander, entitled Refresh, Revive, and ReInvent.

Other notable main stage programming includes: Love Your Age, featuring a panel discussion with Andie MacDowell, Annabelle Gurwtich, Actress and Author of the New York Times bestseller, I See You Made an Effort, Dr. Holly Phillips, CBS’ Chief Medical Correspondent, and Mallika Chopra, Media Entrepreneur, Founder of and daughter of Deepak Chopra. Other main stage panels include Eating Clean for Optimal Health, Aha! Moments, and Hollywood & Health.

Saturday will also offer interactive and experiential programming including fitness classes, food tastings, skin and hair consultations, guided meditations, tongue readings and pulse diagnoses with experts from the AOMA Graduate School of Integrative Medicine, an “Outsmart Center” featuring tips and advice from doctors from the Austin Diagnostic Clinic, and book signings with featured authors. Participants will also enjoy healthy cooking demonstrations from celebrated local chefs, Sonya Cote (Eden East and Hillside Farmacy), Callie Speer (Swift’s Attic), and more.

Other speakers at the event include Dr. Gary Kaplan, integrated medicine pioneer; Darya Rose, Ph.D. creator of the award-winning blog Summer Tomato; Chris Freytag, Chairman of the Board for the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and contributing fitness editor to Prevention; Kate Folb, Program Director for Hollywood, Health & Society, a program of the USC Annenberg Norman Lear Center, Sarah Watson, Writer/Executive Producer for Parenthood, and Keegan Heise, Producer for The Doctors.
